The Berlin Ex- Freundeskreis-Soul-Diva Joy Denalane, persuaded Hugh Masekela in 2002 to be a guest musician on her album, "Mamani", a musical exploration of her South African father’s homeland. This "soul and Afro-Beat in German," texted and sung without using stereotypes proved to be her solo breakthrough. She will present a string quartette in homage to Masekela, which was specially created for this occasion.

Founded in 1991, the All-Star Group Jazz Jamaica is known for “tearing down the roof in their live shows"(Jazzwise). In the last few years, Hugh Masekela has often taken to the stage with them. The BBC Jazz Award-winning troupe, with bassist Gary Crosby and some of the best reggae and ska soloists is according to Independent, the “UK's leading Good-Time Band ". With Rocksteady, Ska, jazz improvisation and reggae music, it adds a Caribbean Skazz touch to Masekela’s music.
