Durvinha and Moreno concealed their true identities for more than fifty years: they once fought with the “Cangaço” gangs, who used to ambush rich land-owners and the military for food and revenge. Their leaders were icons in 1930s Brazil and the elderly couple was idolized when they laid bare their secret. For their family and friends, the revelations were also the beginning of a lengthy process of reflection. The film features barely known archive footage from the dark era of the “Cangaceiros”.
