Now in its fourth edition, the temporary pavilion series Shaped to the Measures of the People’s Songs responds to the question: How do we want to live in this world? This year,  Berlin-based practice studio in:so answers with their pavilion, entitled Rhythms of Sympoiesis. 

During this housewarming event, studio in:so share insights into their practice and introduce the thinking behind the pavilion, whose title alludes to the shared temporal processes through which beings, materials, and environments continuously make and sustain one another. The pavilion’s primary building material is reed, which has been harvested, processed, bundled, stacked, and sun-dried over many months. The architects understand the structure as a temporary storage space within this cycle, allowing the material to continue drying and later re-enter another building process once the pavilion is dismantled. In this way, the design follows the rhythms of growth and harvest, care and maintenance, use and return. The housewarming takes place alongside HKW’s discursive programme L is For the Way You Look at Me, making it a double occasion for conversation, celebration, and first encounters with the pavilion.
