In this artist talk, Aline Baiana discusses her collaborative, research-based practice and the making of Ouro negro é a gente [Black gold is the people, 2025], presented in the exhibition. The film looks beyond the promises of modernization to trace the social, ecological, and cultural consequences of extractive development. Bringing personal testimony, collective memory, and environmental history into dialogue, Baiana asks how ideas of progress determine whose lives, landscapes, and knowledge are valued. The conversation explores filmmaking as a practice of listening and preservation, asking: how can art sustain memories threatened with disappearance while imagining forms of care for damaged ecosystems and the communities bound to them?
