Middle Ground: Nepal Literature Festival offers the possibility to deepen one’s own writing practice and to exchange with other authors about issues around writing. In the two-hour-long sessions, each workshop facilitator focuses on a specific, self-selected theme, inviting participants to contribute to group discussions while also engaging with their own writing.

Farah Bashir’s workshop understands the body as a geography and an archive. In Bashir’s telling, before the body becomes a metaphor, it is a physical geography. Places leave their mark upon it through climate, movement, injury, hunger, and touch. The body remembers landscapes and experiences that the conscious mind may struggle to name. What does the body know that the mind doesn’t?  Using her novel Rumours of Spring (Harper Collins, 2021) as a departure point for talking about how place and space can be experienced through the body, participants are invited to explore how experiences of place are registered in the body and experiment with translating physical sensations and memories into prose.

Participants of all ages and experience levels are invited to join.

To register: Please submit a writing sample of no more than 500 words in English or German to middleground@hkw.de, indicating the name of the workshop in the subject line by 15 September 2026. Selected participants will be notified by the end of September.
