Samah Hijawi is a multimedia artist. Her projects are research-based and deeply rooted in historical narratives. She draws inspiration from ancient history for re-staging and representing contemporary life beyond the limited, polarised discourses that shape our lives today. Her research lies at the intersection of ancient mythology and farming, astrology, and the spiritual traditions that connect us with larger cosmologies beyond Earth. Her works have been shown at Bukhara Biennial, A.M. Qattan Foundation in Palestine, Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, Hayward Gallery in London, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, among others. Hijawi is based in Brussels.
