Margherita D’Amelio

Margherita D’Amelio is a dancer and dance instructor. A recognised expert in southern Italian folk music, she founded the dance group TarantaScalza in Berlin, with which she regularly performs at festivals. She also uses her art to promote social issues and works closely with various intercultural women’s centres and adult education centres in Berlin. Beyond teaching dance and exploring its socio-cultural, historical and gestural aspects, she has a particular interest in the therapeutic potential of the various forms of the tarantella. D’Amelio lives and works in Berlin.
