Maha El Hissy

Maha El Hissy is a literary scholar, curator and presenter. She has taught modern German literature in Munich, Cairo, London and New York. She is co-editor of the anthology Elegie für das letzte Licht (2026) and editor of the collection Die ganze Geschichte fasse ich an der Hand (2025). El Hissy is the curator of the literary series Vorzeichen, as well as the Arabic-language podcast Ne7ki, and is a member of several award juries, including the jury for the German Book Prize and the Internationalen Literaturpreis – Haus der Kulturen der Welt. In the spring of 2025, she was the Distinguished Max Kade Visiting Professor at Columbia University in New York. El Hissy lives and works in Berlin.
