Siméline Jean-Baptiste-Lérandy
Siméline Jean-Baptiste-Lérandy, known by her artist name Sésé Niyabja, is a Martinican interdisciplinary artist, educator, researcher, and activist. Rooted in Bèlè, an ancestral practice of Martinique, she explores its therapeutic dimensions through her concept of “Bien-Naître-Ancestral” (BNA) in response to colonial violence. After qualifying as a music teacher, she earned a Master's degree in Caribbean Arts at the Université des Antilles. She is currently a PhD candidate in Musicology and directs arts education institutions. Recent projects include San Nou (Spore Initiative, Berlin, 2025), the music for La bou sou la po (2025), and her solo album Well-Bishi (2023).
