Gopilal Acharya

Gopilal Acharya is a Bhutanese writer, journalist, and educator whose work explores memory, cultural transformation, folklore, and the human condition through fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction. Recent publications include: Bhutan, My Gyalkhab (2025), Life and Living in Bhutan Amid Covid-19 Pandemic (2022), and Byline: Selected Writings, 2001–2019 (2020). The unpublished manuscript of his debut novel, With a Stone in My Heart, was longlisted for the Man Asian Literary Prize in 2009. His poetry and fiction have appeared in Asia Literary Review and Himal Southasian. Acharya lives and works in Perth, Western Australia.
