The youngest and darkest blossom on the family tree of the polka, narcocorridos are paeans to the bosses of the Mexican drug cartels and their crimes.

An excursion into this world is hazarded by Michael Farin, whose books, audio dramas and films about such figures as Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, Jürgen Haarmann and Ed Gein (the inspiration for Hitchcock’s Psycho) are devoted primarily to the abysses of the human spirit, along with the Berlin musician Zeitblom, who most recently flirted with evil in the form of Aleister Crowley in his audio drama/improv project “Heaven And.” They are joined by a first-rate band consisting of Blake Worrell, Dred, Achim Färber and Bela Brauckmann.
