3rd Summit against Racism

Discussing possible courses of action and developing ways of realizing them

Fri, Aug 30, 2013
10 am–4 pm
Free admission (after registration)

The far-right terrorist group NSU was able to carry out murders for more than a decade – despite the observation of the neo-Nazi scene by the office for the protection of the constitution and other state institutions. According to research conducted by civic action groups and the media, at least 148 people have been killed as a result of right-wing violence since 1990 – many of these crimes do not appear in any official statistics. It is crucial that all racist murders are solved and the perpetrators brought to justice and that the failure of state institutions and latent racist structures in investigating authorities are fully addressed.

This process must also be accompanied by individual support for the victims. It must also be based on intensified social and political engagement with racist and far-right attitudes in the population. The series of events entitled “Summits against Racism” aims to develop potential courses of action in cooperation with players from both civil society and state institutions.
