The final days of WASSERMUSIK are to be held under the banner of the fourth Asian Film Festival Berlin. The featured films are productions that take a critical perspective on the much-extolled new potential for economic, political, and cultural developments between the countries ringing the Pacific. With a focus on Asia, America, Thailand, and Vietnam, the selected films tell unusual stories of migration, love, everyday struggle, empowerment, and the search for meaning.

Opening:
“Nowhere Out There“ - a live performance conceived by performer and visual artist Florencia Guerberof (London), based on the short film “Camino Negro” by Arata Mori (Berlin).

Seeking Asian Female

R: Debbie Lum, USA 2012, 82 min, English version

The story of an Asian-American film director and her improbable friendship with one of her greatest nightmares: an old white American man with “yellow fever” who searches online for – and finds! – an exotic young bride from China. The film shows the complications, both humorous and tragic, for all parties involved: the man, the woman, and the filmmaker.
