Internal, subjective experience is often overlooked in conventional academic analyzes. Closer scrutiny of these experiences, however, reveals a strong connection between debt, feelings of guilt and bonds, whilst, at the same time, highlighting constructive solutions.

The capacity to forge bonds, which can be observed among many mammals, is also the fundamental basis for human relationships and social groups. Academic psychological research and experiences from Systemic Psychotherapy have yielded surprising findings in this field.

Hunter Beaumont, clinical psychologist and systemic therapist, is the Founding President of the International Systemic Constellations Association as well as the program director of the annual International Intensive Workshop in Family Constellations. He is a member for life of the American Psychological Association (APA) and a member of the German Psychological Association.
