Lydia H. Liu is Professor of Comparative Literature and Chinese Studies at the University of Michigan and author of the book "The Clash of Empires: The Invention of China in Modern World Making". She is currently resident fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin.

Li Tuo is an author and renowned literature and film critic in the People's Republic of China. He is the editor of the influential Beijing journal Shijie (horizons/world).
