When the young filmmaker Munkyung knocks back one rice wine after the other with his friend, a film critic, it emerges that they were both recently at the tourist resort of Tongyeong on the southernmost tip of South Korea. But only the viewer realizes that they were both separately entangled in a web of infatuation, rejection, seduction and infidelity. The taz rightly describes director Hong Sangsoo as “profound”.
