Lecture Tricia Rose: „Translating Black Noise – the global journey of Hip Hop culture“ and talk with Joe Conzo, Susanne Stemmler, Detlef Diederichsen

Participants:

Born in the Bronx in 1963, Joe Conzo is considered the first photographer of the Hip Hop scene.

Tricia Rose specializes in 20th century African-American culture and politics, social thought, popular culture and gender issues. She is the author of the seminal “Black Noise: Rap Music and Black Culture in Contemporary America”.

Susanne Stemmler holds a PhD in literature. She was Fellow of the German Research Foundation at the Center for Metropolitan Studies in Berlin/New York and worked on “Hip-hop. The transcultural aesthetics of performance” for which she conducted fieldwork in the Bronx and Harlem.

Jörg Süßenbach Jörg Süßenbach studied music and worked as a musician and music teacher. Since 2004 he has been in charge of the music division at the Goethe-Institut. He lives and works in Munich.
