This band from the sand dunes of the Sahara Desert is another discovery by Sublime Frequencies, the impeccably tasteful gourmet label from Seattle, which once helped Omar Souleyman achieve his international breakthrough. Following in his footsteps, Group Doueh are much sought-after guests at the leading world music festivals, where they enchant their audiences with Desert Trance and Guitar Noise.

Back home, Group Doueh continue to perform as a wedding band. Front man Bamaar Salmou aka Doueh channels the brute energy of a sandstorm into the six strings of his guitar, whose wah-wah madness is reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix. His two sons on bass and keyboards echo that verve while the intense vocal talents of his wife Halima and cousin Bashiri provide the balance. Together, they perform traditional songs of the Sahrawi people, weaving an intense tapestry of sound with a hypnotic effect.
