International Literature Award – Haus der Kulturen der Welt 2011

For the third time, the Haus der Kulturen der Welt and the Stiftung Elementarteilchen (Hamburg) honored an outstanding contemporary literary voice and its first translation into German.

The Award Winners 2011 were the author Michail Schischkin and his translator Andreas Tretner for “Venushaar” (Orig: “Venerin Volos”), 2011 published by the DVA.
The Jury’s Laudations...

This year's jury had to choose from 111 titles, translated from a total of 24 languages, by writers from 50 different countries. A speech was held by Hanns Zischler; Ulrich Matthes read from the winning book. Luzia Braun was master of ceremonies.
