A speech by the Indonesian writer Goenawan Mohamad will usher in the festival. Mohamad’s integrity during the Suharto regime earned him the high esteem of the international community. The MC for the evening is the dazzling artist and transvestite Michael Shaowanasai. Immediately following, the House of World Cultures will open its gallery doors to the public: an exhibition, performances, regional cuisine and much more await visitors on opening night.

At 9 p.m. comes the crowning culmination of the night with a concert by the up and coming Bangkok band Futon.

Within the framework of the Asia-Pacific Weeks, which are supported by the Stiftung Deutsche Klassenlotterie Berlin (DKLB).
