A European city with a long history, Bucharest was particularly injured and stigmatized in the 20th century under socialist dictatorship. It is trying to rediscover itself. Doing so requires a lot of effort put toward creating new perspectives and ideas. Creative people within the city have devoted themselves to getting this process moving.
