After the successful launch of the International Literature Award by HKW and Stiftung Elementarteilchen, the competition enters its second round: The French writer Marie NDiaye and the translator Claudia Kalscheuer are the first winners of the award. Marie NDiaye, won the 25,000 Euro award for ‚Drei starke Frauen’, ‘Trois Femmes Puissantes’ (Suhrkamp Verlag 2010). 10,000 Euros go to Claudia Kalscheuer for her translation of the novel from French.

This year 78 publishers have submitted 133 titles.The award is endowed with €25,000 for the author and €10,000 for the translator and will be presented by Sigrid Löffler and the jury. After a reading from the award-winning book a speech will be held by writer Sibylle Lewitscharoff. The evening is hosted by literary critic Denis Scheck.
