"It’s time to change our names and locations and clear our minds by seeing things from new perspectives. It’s the differences the spur us on. And if we don’t to stand still, we’ll have to learn to understand these differences and trust them. And if we’re to have any chance of surviving together, we’ll have to bring them into harmony with one another. Can we move together in the same direction without recourse to the terms north/south or east/west?" (Ahn Eun-me)

Choreographer Ahn Eun-me is staging a production that she developed in co-operation with some international dancers in Berlin last summer. Eun Me Ahn regularly travels back and forth between the USA and South Korea and has often visited Wuppertal as a guest of Pina Bausch. She lived in New York for a long time where critics described her work as Korea’s answer to Japanese Butoh. Her work reveals the influence of her traditional training on the one hand, and that of Western choreography with a healthy dose of humour, on the other. "Ahn Eun-me loves to quote others with a twinkle in her eye and a dose of stylised irony. She collects, associates, and puts together motifs from film, dance, fashion and art, before casually adding her own unmistakable signature." (Gesa Polert in tanzjournal 6/03).
