The 11th shadow + Circle after the other

Choreographer Ahn Ae-soon draws on Korean rituals and traditional dance to arrive at contemporary forms of expression. Dance and singing, music and language are combined with great sensitivity and the highest technical precision.

This company has frequently toured Europe and the USA and won a number of international prizes. The “11th shadow” refers to the mythical being Sipjangsaeng who was considered immortal in ancient Korea. In this choreography, Ahn Ae-soon experiments with the means of traditional shadow theatre and mask dance. “Circle after the other” takes up the theme of dance as the essence of freedom and of life as a never-ending cycle.
