7 Women No Cry

With its compilation series "4 Women No Cry", the Berlin label Monika Enterprise has created a rare platform for the community of female electronic musicians. To coincide with the third release, the evening will open WORLDTRONICS 2008 with seven one-woman bands at once.

The solo artist Rosario Bléfari is at home somewhere between indie pop and sound collage, but can already look back on a career as a singer with the experimental Argentinian rock band Suárez.

The Sound of Lucrecia is equally difficult to nail down. Lucrecia recorded her debut album using only a synthesizer, drum machine and her voice, although the Barcelona-based Colombian now also permits acoustic instruments.

It hardly comes as a surprise that the Austrian-born Dorit Chrysler is a founding member of the New York Theremin Society, when you take into account her elegantly fragile "Electronic Neo Psychedelica".

There's a more brittle and mystical sound to the music of Julia Holter, who draws her inspiration from the manuscripts of the Illuminati and other, baroque elements.

Mico is a Japanese artist who most recently staged her stream-of-consciousness poetry at the Meltdown festival curated by Massive Attack and produces experimental drum’n’bass on the side. Tusia Beridze's demanding yet accessible instrumental music has appeared on Monika and max.Ernst under the name of tba.

The music of Manekinekod is based exclusively on the sound tracks of her video recordings. Seven women, no cry and suitably unusual visuals from flora&faunavisions .
