Starvation wages, water contaminated by pesticide, cowsheds as accommodation: illegal workers from Africa work under extreme conditions in the Spanish town of El Ejido, producing fruit and vegetables for Europe’s discount markets. For the ‘Sans Papiers’, however, the greenhouses are the gate to the West.
