Von der Saat der Worte
In commemoration of Hrant Dink
Turkish and German with translation
In January 2007, Hrant Dink was shot dead by a young Turkish chauvinist. Now, a selection of articles from Agos (a small but important newspaper), which were written by the Armenian-Turkish editor-in-chief, is appearing in German for the first time. Dink argued that Turkey should confront itself with its past as a precondition for a truly profound democratisation process. Proceeding from texts in the anthology Von der Saat der Worte, the discussions on Hrant Dinks’ origins and life will examine what it means to be an Armenian (both in the Republic of Turkey and in the Diaspora), as well as Dinks’ contributions to questions regarding Turkey’s political future.
