PrettyQuickies will be shown again on May 13 at 16:00 h at the House of World Cultures

At that afternoon, an exhibition will be opening (as part of ABOUT BEAUTY) to present the results of the Youth Programme AM I BEAUTIFUL?

Visitors to Yuka Oyama’s PrettyQuickies performance become participants for whom she spontaneously creates tailor-made jewellery. To this end, she employs old consumer items that she no longer needs. In this way we discover a simple form of adornment from the distant past. Objects taken from our immediate surroundings now serve as jewellery and are upgraded in value in the process. Yuka Oyama’s performance brings out the cultural and personal differences between the participants and thus defies any standardisation of the personality.

Yuka Oyama was born in Tokyo. She grew up in Malaysia, Indonesia and the USA. After studying design in the USA, she specialised in goldwork and later studied at The Academy of Fine Arts, Munich.
