Heremias (Book One: The Legend of the Lizard Princess), Provided by Lav Diaz

This film is nine hours long. The first shot alone lasts 10 minutes – uncut. Lav Diaz develops a very individual, decelerated film language. The intensity of the imagery is magnified by the factor of time. His latest work revolves around the great themes of guilt and redemption: the odyssey of a peddler, who, right at the very start, loses everything he owns. However, the real test in his search for truth(s) is yet to come.

Lav Diaz (*1958) lives in Manila and New York. His films have won prizes at the festivals in Venice, Singapore and Fribourg and elsewhere.
