Doctorella

With their band Doctorella, Kerstin and Sandra Grether combine tongue-in-cheek campy lyrics with pop and folk music that incorporates elements of chanson and Americana. What for? No less than to make new utopias and dreams tangible. While the group’s debut, Drogen und Psychologen, was the rallying cry of the Occupy and Slut Walk movements, its follow-up, Ich will alles von dir, dives just as radically deep into the lives of metropolitan bohemians to explore the potential of alternative lifestyles.

Das Rattenkabinett

“Experimental – rap – clatter” is how Das Rattenkabinett summarizes their approach and it’s all true. With their live hip-hop sound, the band around MC Lena Stoehrfaktor focuses on blunt confrontation. Over psychedelic riffs and dead-straight beats, Stoehrfaktor spits rhymes about the status quo of a world marked by political, social and cultural abysses. The debut album of the newly formed group will be released on the Doctorella label Bohemian Strawberry in the fall of 2021.

Das Nähmaschinenduett

When Lisa Simpson and Stephanie Müller meet at the sewing machine, the result can sometimes be slipped on, but most of the time it inspires a rethink. Das Nähmaschinenduett interweaves performance art and sound art to the rattle of sewing machines in a critical examination of the exclusion and exploitation mechanisms of the fashion industry. With soft vocals and the sounds of toys, the two seamlessly mediate between punky DIY spirit and avant-garde music.
