Nasser Kilada

Nasser Kilada grew up with Coptic and Arabic music, discovered soul, jazz and reggae as a young man and enriched all these influences with others in the course of his long career. On his current album, Groove of the Nile, he and his band merge Latin American rhythms, Afrobeat grooves and reggae riddims. They are combined with the sounds of the oud, the tabla and the simsimiyya played by Kilada, and of course his haunting vocals.

Momo Djender

For over 30 years, Momo Djender has traversed classical and contemporary Algerian music and everything else he encounters. Collaborating with musicians such as Sting, Mellow Mark and Klaus Doldinger, he reinterprets Arab-Andalusian traditions ranging from jazz to flamenco. He mediates between all these different styles with a voice that puts the blues and soul in a new light while updating chaabi, the sound of his childhood.
