Lisa Bassenge is a crossover artist and innovator who has been an important source of inspiration for the genre since her early days in the mid-1990s’ international jazz scene. As a member of nu jazz projects like Micatone, as a Knef adept or as an interpreter of Billie Eilish and Suzanne Vega recently on her album Mothers, she rejuvenates the time-honored and opens up unexplored musical spaces with her mutable and nuanced vocals.
Erik Leuthäuser has both the classical jazz repertoire and chansons down pat and at the same time is able to elicit entirely new qualities from his source material with experimental techniques from minimal music. He can also bring out the essence when only accompanied by the piano. Most recently he released a live album, on which he newly interpreted pieces by Irene Kral and Alan Broadbent together with Wolfgang Köhler.
