The films in the Trans-Borders section of the programme tell of the many frontier crossings immigrants make before finally reaching their new home. In New York, the traditions and views these immigrants bring with them undergo a transformation. It is the collective result of this process that gives the city its polyphonic fascination.

Absolut Warhola

D: Stanislaw Mucha, Germany 2001, 80 min, German subtitles

Somewhere in the middle of nowhere, in the "Ruthenian Bermuda Triangle" where Slovakia, Poland and the Ukraine meet, is the sole pop art museum in Europe. Stanislaw Mucha's docu-comedy takes us to this place to trace the roots of the icon Andy Warhol. The German Film Critics' Association judged it the best documentary film of 2001.
