Mariana Fix will provide a look into the housing system in order to identify and understand how it operates under finance-led globalization. Specific urban scenes in different cities after the neoliberal turn are acting as a starting point for highlighting the pressure exerted by capital during financeled globalization and connecting it with local real estate circuits that expand themselves in the cities from the 1990s onwards.

Fix will discuss the obstacles the finance capital encounters in Brazilian cities and how it tries to overcome or circumvent these barriers. New policies, inspired by the same models as other countries, overlap with very different social, political and institutional structures, as well as distinct patterns of accumulation, feeding more or less internationally articulated local circuits.
