A spectacular journey through India with sitar master Ravi Shankar
A journey with Ravi Shankar: The film follows the sitar virtuoso, who brought classical Indian music onto the world stage in the 1960s and 70s, on his return to India and his travels through Europe and the US. The film portrait focuses on Shankar’s philosophy as a composer and teacher, as well as the moving reunion with his guru in India. Shankar himself provides an off-screen commentary, looks back on his own biography and critically reflects on the Western Hippie movement’s fascination with India. Contains rare footage of sessions with Yehudi Menuhin and George Harrison.
