On the trail of an almost forgotten jazz era in Kolkata

During the Second World War the jazz scene in Kolkata and Mumbai was booming, not least due to the U.S. troops stationed on Indian soil. Carlton Kitto, the virtuoso bebop guitarist is one of the last survivors of this almost forgotten era. In his debut film, Susheel Kurien draws a portrait of the everyday life of the 68 year old maverick, looking back with Carlton and companions such as the jazz keyboardist Louis Banks on the time when jazz formed a bridge between the continents.
