Can climate change be felt? Anjalika Sagar and Kodwo Eshun of The Otolith Group speak on their audiovisual essay Medium Earth: the film listens to the California deserts, translates what the stones write and decodes the calligraphy of the earth’s crevices.

The Otolith Group: Medium Earth

In their essay film MEDIUM EARTH (2013), The Otolith Group explores the earthquake endangered geology of California as well as the spatialized unconscious of capitalist modernism: The film’s main protagonist, beside the geological and anthropogenous landscape, is a “medium”, who belongs to a group of around 300 people around the world who are earthquake sensitive.
