Sending signals

Readings, discussions

Word programme

Writers from Southeast Asia who adopt critical positions on burning issues in their home countries will be reading their works and engaging in discussions with journalists and experts.

This series, entitled Sending Signals, examines cultural and official language rules and restrictions, language as a vehicle for communicating cultural heritage and individual expression, and social relations. It shows the development of a word culture in this region beyond the printed media and opens up the boundaries between journalism, prose and lyric poetry.

Within the framework of the Asia-Pacific Weeks, which are supported by the Stiftung Deutsche Klassenlotterie Berlin (DKLB).
