Marisella Ouma is an Intellectual Property Lawyer and the current Deputy Solicitor General, in charge of the Legal Advisory and Research Department in the Office of the Attorney General and Department of Justice in Kenya. She has contributed to the development of various Intellectual Property Policies and laws in Kenya as well as on an international level, and has actively participated in different committees of WIPO, the World Intellectual Property Organization for almost 10 years. Up until 2015 Ouma was the Executive Director of the Kenya Copyright Board, which she helped establish. She has worked with various artists in Kenya and within the region on matters of copyright and traditional knowledge, and she has taught intellectual property law and telecommunications law a.o. at the University of Nairobi.
