Les Rencontres Internationales

New Cinema and Contemporary Art

In Cooperation

Filmscreenings

Jun 23–28, 2016

The line between documentary and fictional methods in film and art is becoming increasingly blurred. Viewing habits are changing and new challenges are demanding new ways of working. Les Rencontres Internationales is pursuing these.

Over one hundred heretofore unreleased films from 40 countries, many in their German premiere, make up the heart of this year’s film and art festival, which involves artists and filmmakers known around the world, as well as young talents whose works have never before been seen in Berlin.

In addition to the film screenings, the public is invited to attend workshops, panel discussions, and conversations with international artists, filmmakers, and experts to discover and reflect on new documentary, fictional, and multimedia approaches.

Les Rencontres Internationales’ latest incarnation is being presented at Gaîté Lyrique in Paris from December 1 to 7, 2014, before coming to Berlin in June for the program’s eighth sojourn in the city.

Curated by Nathalie Hénon and Jean-François Rettig.

With new works by Claire Denis, Phillip Warnell, Neil Beloufa, Lina Selander, Thom Andersen, Sandro Aguilar, Laribot, Nick Jordan / Jacob Cartwright a. o.
