Ben Russell, Let Each One Go Where He May (USA, Suriname 2009)

The consistent abuse of hierarchical structures within the field of documentary filmmaking has led to a redundancy in the (re)production of conventional notions such as “authorship”, “authority” and “authenticity”. Curator Eduardo Thomas presents contemporary experimental documentaries further eroding these seemingly immutable conventions.

Let Each One Go Where He May

D: Ben Russell, Suriname 2009, 135 min.

The film follows two brothers along the path their ancestors took in Suriname when they fled from their Dutch slave-masters some three centuries ago.
