The Literary Salon - International 2009

Writers hosted by Guy Helminger, Navid Kermani and Terézia Mora

Readings and Conversations

For three years now, the writers Guy Helminger and Navid Kermani have been inviting their very favorite fellow authors to their Literary Salon in Cologne. In its fourth year, the Salon has decided to go international. In Terézia Mora, it now has a host in Berlin, and in the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, a partner there too.

In the Literary Salon, people talk, argue and laugh about everything under the sun; ultimately, however, it is always about the same thing, about an experience shared by guests and hosts alike: writing. Guests read from their own books. And they also come along with texts that are very dear to them. After the break, they also talk about other things that move them, such as records, pictures and videos, and all the other things that occupy writers after their readings are over.

The Literary Salon is held at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt and the Kölner Stadtgarten: on Tuesdays, the Salon, with Navid Kermani and Terézia Mora, opens its doors in Berlin; on Thursdays Guy Helminger and Navid Kermani receive their guests in Cologne.

A co-operation project, conceived by Guy Helminger, Navid Kermani and Terézia Mora, between the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, the Cologne Literature House and the Stadtgarten, Cologne.
