Participants:

Pierre Abi-Saab: author and cultural editor of the al-Akhbar newspaper and editor of the cultural magazine Zawaya, Beirut.

Nadje al Ali: author, activist and social anthropologist, professor at the SOAS London, Great Britain, (Author of „Iraqi Women: Untold Stories from 1948 to the Present“).

Radwa Ashour: novelist, literary scholar and activist, Cairo; professor at Ain Shams university in Cairo. Author of the trilogy Grenada, 1994.

Scheherazade Hassan: ethno-musicologist, founder of the Iraq sound archives, which were destroyed during the war. She was fellow at the Wissenschaftkolleg Berlin 2004/05, lives and works in Paris.

Samah Selim: literary translator and specialist in literature, member of the research programme “Europe in the Middle East – The Middle East in Europe”, lives in Marseille (The Novel and the Rural Imaginary in Egypt 1880-1985, Routledge, 2004).

Fawwaz Traboulsi: author, historian and political scientist, Fellow of the Wissenschaftkolleg zu Berlin 2007/08, Beirut/Berlin. (A History of Modern Lebanon, London 2007).
