What alternatives are there in the international trading system that could bring about fairer basic conditions for globalisation's losers as well as ensure the sustainable use of resources? Jamaican-American macroeconomist Mariama Williams examines the imbalance in the global rules of play from the unusual perspective of gender relations. As adjunct associate for the International Gender and Trade Network and director of the Institute for Law and Economics in Kingston, Jamaica, Mariama Williams is a renowned consultant to governments and NGOs.
