Noël Yeh Martín

Noël Yeh Martín is a synthetic biologist interested in the divide between living and non-living systems. He received his PhD from the University of Trento where he worked, under the supervision of Sheref Mansy, on artificial chemical systems that mimic living cells. In a recent work, published in ACS Central Science together with Roberta Lentini, Mansy’s research group he proposes a method to quantify the life-like properties of artificial cells with a type of Turing Test that exploited the chemical communication between artificial and natural cells. Martín is currently carrying out postdoctoral studies at the Ludwig-Maximillian-University Munich in the System Biophysics laboratory. He is now investigating the emergence of life-like chemical systems driven by thermal gradients.
