Rasmus Fleischer

Rasmus Fleischer is a historian, working at Stockholm University. For a large part, his academic work has concerned media history and the political economy of music. Most recently, he co-authored the book Spotify Teardown (2019). After finishing a project about this streaming music service, his current research concerns the history of price statistics. However, he is also returning to larger issues regarding the current state of music, raised ten years ago in his first book-length essay Det postdigitala manifestet (2009). Fleischer has been a frequent speaker at conferences like Transmediale, and was once a member of The Bureau for Piracy (2003–09). He has a musical background in Early Music, and sometimes performs with the ensemble Vox Vulgaris.
