Sophia Al-Maria is an artist, writer and filmmaker. Her most recent book Sad Sack (2019) and her writing residency at the Whitechapel Gallery take feminist inspiration from Ursula K. Le Guin. Her first book The Girl Who Fell to Earth was published in 2012 and her writing has appeared in Bidoun, Triple Canopy and Harper’s Magazine. Her work has been exhibited at the Whitney Museum, Gwangju Biennale, New Museum, Julia Stoschek Collection and Tate Britain.
