Internationaler Literaturpreis 2022: More submissions than ever before
A total of 151 titles were submitted by 76 publishers for the 2022 Internationaler Literaturpreis. This is the largest number of books submitted since the prize was established. The submissions include first translations from 31 languages and over 60 countries.
Publishers had until Jan 31, 2022 to submit up to three books published in German for the first time between May 1, 2021 and May 20, 2022 and published in the original language within the last 10 years.
In a multi-stage process, the jury first selects the shortlist of six books from the submissions and books nominated by them and then selects the duo of author and translator who will receive the prize.
The shortlist will be announced on May 24, 2022. The public award ceremony will take place on June 22, 2022 at Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin.
