Anthropocene Campus | Introduction and Greeting
Fri, Nov 14, 2014 Bernd Scherer and Jürgen Renn
Whether we consider the invention of printing, the computer, or the Internet: with each of these inventions our knowledge of the world was transformed. The same thing took place with the transition from the Middle Ages to the modern era, after the Second World War or with September 11, 2001: a transformation in the perception and consideration of things, positions, and knowledge in general. What does this paradigm shift look like in the Anthropocene? How does the Anthropocene change our knowledge? What knowledge do we need in the framework of the Anthropocene? And who are “we”?
A greeting and introduction to the Anthropocene Campus by Bernd Scherer, director of HKW (until 16:00) and Jürgen Renn, director, Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte, Berlin.
