Mimetic Poetics

The Anthropocene Project. An Encyclopedia

Perhaps the Anthropocene is an eon that can effortlessly overcome the debate “culture or nature,” because the separation could never actually be conceived in those terms? Does not the body itself speak a different language than our reason in advanced society? When the corporeal unconscious constantly fuses with the unconscious of the world and links us to the strangling storms of the Sahara, to Kansas tornados, sun storms, or gray drizzle in London and Amsterdam. Why are we trying in the course of globalization to develop a single, all-embracing language? Let us try beyond technical terms and containment to imagine mana, the spiritual power, as a language teacher, and to forget the old culture and grammar. A plea for mimesis and sympathetic magic or post-human machine noise as dialects of the Anthropocene.
